Re: The Definitive Fulci on DVD Thread

Thanks! The AB disc in the second cap seems to suffer from extreme grain similar to what happened when Fortune Star remastered A Better Tomorrow. The only thing is the NoShame disc features a commentary by the DP so I would suspects based on his involvement that the dvd may have had some input from him on the transfer. Just a hunch, no proof though.

Can you pm me the text codes so I can place it in the first post?

Granted since Morten has a ton of the DVDs it will still be greatly appreciated if he can do caps of those too.

Thanks!

Actually http://www.videolan.org/ should do the trick for screencaps.

At first it looks like No Shame has far better picture, but if you look closer it looks washed out to me. For example in the last picture look at the trees and the tombstone in the background.

I actually think the AB looks better in these. The first screenshot looks very soft.

Re: The Definitive Fulci on DVD Thread

I always thought that the grainy look of the AB disk added to the overall atmosphere of the movie.

Re: The Definitive Fulci on DVD Thread

Watching the NoShame disc right no I have to say, the films looks clean but still (and most importantly) maintains it rich, yet desaturated (an oxymoron I know) look. I think the AB disc is just too desaturated for what Sergio and Fulci intended. Still it seems a little to lively at times. Regardless after only listening to the score a dozen times, I'm finally watching the movie and its damn good

Sure thing, do you mean the AWE box set? I don't own it but it looks nice and very reasonably priced.

Thats cool. I've seen reviews for some of the set (individual ones) on DVD Times. I would try searching there. I assume its the set from Neo.

Re: The Definitive Fulci on DVD Thread

Are the NoShame DVD's still available? And, did they ever release House By The Cemetary?

On another note, and wrong thread, do any of you know the status of NoShame USA's back catalog? I've got everything I want at this point, but if they're really going under, I feel like I should snatch up as much of it as possible. I keep running across the Martino titles in used shops around SF and Berkeley, and if they're going to be in high demand in a year I'm going to buy them (again).
