As Troy said, he thinks it will be in the set under it's title Twitch of the Death Nerve.

I have the old Gorgon VHS under the title Bay of Blood but its so old and worn that I can barely watch the movie, I'd love to see it in pristine quality!

I never knew he disowned the extra footage? The only thing that bothered me about the Halloween 25 years of terror disc was the fact that they never did a new interview with Carpenter, the man created the fucking series! The documentary otherwise was excellent but alot of great info could have come from Carpenter for sure. Tommy lee Wallace is great in his interview.

Re: Mario Bava DVD Box Set - Vol. 2 (10/23/07)

If the picture quality is on a par with the Image release, that'll be fine - I'm sure it will be slightly improved, though. The main issue was with the sound, so if that's fixed - and I'm sure it will be - it should be a terrific release. The Raro release had better sound (albeit only the Italian track with English subs; I personally like the English track) but the picture quality was way too contrasty and brown.

In the book Prince of Darkness, Carpenter says that the extra scenes were shot when Halloween II was in production and that they were done to make up for cut footage to fill out the 2 hour time slot, with commercials. The footage incorporates background info that Carpenter originally intended to be in the first film, but which he eventually thought better of, preferring to keep Michael enigmatic.

Is there any chance of including Blood and Black Lace in this boxset ?

No - Alfredo Leone does not own the rights to Blood and Black Lace. A lot of this has actually been discussed in the sticky Bava thread - not to be a douche about it, but I do remember talking about which films Leone owns and all that, so this thread would actually make better sense to be merged into that one. Or not - I'm not trying to be bossy!

Re: Mario Bava DVD Box Set - Vol. 2 (10/23/07)

I think the 23rd October date is not going to happen, it's not that far away as were now in early August. It doesn't give AB time to record and edit the audio commentaries and advertise the set itself. I think it'll be out more in November personally. I do hope it includes Bay Of Blood / Twitch with the English dub corrected so your not having to crank the volume up and then lower it again seconds later.

Lucas recorded 3 new commentaries for this. So which of the potential contenders for this set don't already have commentaries?

How much are the importers gouging for it? I bought mine for 6 euro new at Saturn in Germany, that was the list price when it was released here.

None of the films - barring House of Exorcism - already have commentaries. One of the commentaries he recorded was for the stand alone edition of Erik the Conqueror, so it seems only two of the films will get the commentary treatment.

I think AB can make the 10/23 deadline - the commentary tracks are recorded, and that may have been the last step in the process for all we know.

*If* this is accurate, I'd say that this would, by default, be my favorite DVD release of the year.

My only complaint is the lack of House of Exorcism. I'd dump Roy Colt to make room for it.
