Yeah, that totally brought out the nerd in me too. The only thing in there that I don't have on any format is the Cherry Five album, so I definitrly do not need that box.

The first time I saw it though I was thinking,"A fucking Goblin BOX-SET!" Maybe for a split-second I considered selling to drugs to get this set for myself. $225 is too much.

Daemonia is over at myspace and I talk to them quite a bit. It's Claudio Simonetti with new band members but they cover all the old Argento horror classics.

I don't have any of these albums but I love these guys... maybe I should take the plunge, but man oh man that's a lot of moolah.

I'm kinda thinking you could grab all of those on vinyl, except for the Cherry Five album, for less than the price of the box set.

Still, that box is fucking cool and you get multiple covers and shit.

If you can grab the original pressings of all of those for anything near $225 in very good condition, then you have mighty good luck, my friend.

Tony is actually selling that box a fair amount cheaper than the Japanese sellers on Ebay. They're marking up the price quite a bit to $240 or $250 depending. And that doesn't count expensive shipping to the US - Tony has that factored in to his price already.

Only thing that bums me out is that word is that the CDs are directly from Italy, so no remastering was done in Japan. Most of the recent Italian masters sound decent enough anyway, but it would be nice to have something different there since a couple of the discs could use better remastering.

Very cool that they included the alternate artwork from the Canadian and Japanese LP versions of SUSPIRIA and PROFONDO ROSSO. Especially nice that the SUSPIRIA package is an original pop-up like the LP (according to Tony, I've yet to see it myself).

It's a very cool set, but I'm not crazy enough to shell out that kind of dough for albums I already own.

I'm a HUGE Goblin fan and would love to own this set, but I can't afford it.

I adore all of their soundtracks, except for Nohosonno, which I'm not big on for some reason.

Re: How big of a Goblin fan are you?

I've been pretty lucky lately I guess because I have been focusing on beefing up the old Goblin collection on vinyl. Although, I did pay about $75 for a sealed copy of Suspiria. I consider that a great f-ing deal though. I opened it because I wanted to see the pop-up, but the glue was dried out and now is only attached to one side of the inner sleeve. Still very nice though.

Re: How big of a Goblin fan are you?

Yeah, I've had a few of those original SUSPIRIAs and the pop-ups have since either come off or they just don't pop up.

As for the Japanese CD set, I just got mine in the mail from Tony yesterday and it's beautiful. My only beef is that they could and should have IMO replicated the original labels on the CDs, especially since several had custom labels. But you can't have everything, I suppose. The original jackets are replicated nicely, especially the SUSPIRIA one. Of course, it fails to pop up properly just like the original LP.

Re: How big of a Goblin fan are you?

jeez. I'd love this, but like most of you it's out of my price range. Heck, I"m had to get most of my Goblin off eMusic as the discs are kinda price when I've found them.

Re: How big of a Goblin fan are you?

Considering the collectability of these mini LP CDs, $225 is an absolute steal. Japanese CDs are expensive to begin with and when you factor in the box and OBI strips and all that collectible paraphenalia, it's well worth it if you have the dough. Not that I'm gonna fork over though! I have mini LP CDs for bands like Genesis, Yes and Pink Floyd and some of them go for astronomical sums on Ebay.

As for the vinyl, they generally go for quite a bit of money. You can usually get an original pressing for the Goblin albums for less than a hundred bucks each on Ebay. But the Cherry Five album is extremely rare. I saw a copy go for $2,000 a few months ago on Ebay...and it wasn't even in near mint condition!
