    Telavista's Euro-Cult Releases

Well, I've had the opportunity to check them out, as I bought "Stateline Motel" and it just got in today.

After reviewing the quality, it is simply a full-screen transfer that is not digitally mastered or anything. After already jumpstarting the "Day of the Cobra" thread after 'Telavista' had announced the release of it, I wanted to buy one of their other dvd's to report back on the quality.

After opening the case of "Stateline Hotel," I immediately recognized the work of LFVW. A black and white disc artwork with a familiar smell jogged my senses and had me compare my "Amuck" disc to the "Stateline Motel" disc. The discs used in both pressings are identical. Both of the dvd cases are identical. In fact, it is quite obvious that 'Eurovista' = 'Televista."

For us euro-cult hounds, that ain't the greatest of news given LFVW's lack of care and love with these films. And, "Stateline..." is an obvious VHS to DVD transfer. Which, of course, means that most likely all of these releases will be fullframe VHS to DVD transfers.

These are some of the movies on the agenda as 'Telavista's' releases...

    Concorde Affair (Deodato)

    Black Emmanuelle

    Day of the Cobra

One last linking piece of evidence is that the area-code for 'Televista' is the Hampton Bays in NY, and LFVW runs out of Queens, NY. That's blocks away.

While I'm more glad that some of these are getting released, than not getting a release at all, I'd be much happier if this company would at least attempt to source materials other than shoddy VHS full-frame to DVD transfers that beg for more attention. I think that we can all agree that they are worth it.

    Re: Telavista's Euro-Cult Releases

Well, here's some more evidence that "Telavista" is in fact led by LFVW...

Here's Telavista's new release of Fulci's "Massacre Time" slated for release on 12-19-06...

Here's LFVW's release of Fulci's "Massacre Time" that's been released for a while now...

I guess the only good news about this is that the newer release is $9.99 (at DDD) vs. lfvw's price of $24.99.

Here's another quote on Telavista's quality control that was in another thread...

    Re: Telavista's Euro-Cult Releases

i was looking around for info on some of my favorite mondo flicks and ran across this -

    http://www.amazon.com/Shocking-Afric...0577354&sr=8-2

and i thought i had read something about Televista here. then when i found this thread i wasn't suprised that this DVD of a mondo classic is obviously severely cut with a run time of 69 minutes. i have a English language DVDR of a Dutch VHS that it over 90 minutes as i recall. i will check later the exact length, but i know it is longer than 69 minutes.

and haha i found a review i wrote for the movie when i first saw it a few years ago lol-

i wonder how they (whoever "they" is, LFVW, TELEVISTA or whoever) get distribution on these releases?
