At last! Lucio Fulci's masterpiece The Psychic (aka Sette note in nero / Murder to the Tune of the Seven Black Notes) will hit DVD this fall. Along with a 16x9 transfer of the uncut version of this long out-of-print film, the DVD will include a never-before-published interview with Fulci as well as interviews with cast and crew. This seminal release will street on October 30th along with the official DVD premiere of the uncut version of Fulci's acclaimed sex comedy The Eroticist (which will also contain a Fulci interview and cast/crew featurette).

Very good news. I'd heard rumours that Severin were considering these titles around the time of their release of PERVERSION STORY.

I wonder if the interviews with the cast and crew are from the French edition on Neo,be cool to see these with English subs esp. the Garko interview and the Movieola feature with editors Bruno and Ornella Micheli.

Wow! The Alfa Digital disc of SEVEN NOTES IN BLACK seems pretty nice to me as far as PQ goes, the quality doesn't seem like your typical 'unauthorized' release so I really didn't care if this one was released on DVD again, but better is better so I will pick it up! On THE EROTICIST, it's good to see a street date as I need to get rid of that crappy expensive Dagored DVD. This one I WAS looking forward to.

Severin needs to put out THE DEVIL'S HONEY!

(Though I admit I continue buying these foreign 'cult' flicks on DVD despite long ago boycotting any major release film in expectation of HD versions. Hopefully I'm not making a mistake here as AB/Starz is soon to be releasing some of the most popular titles (Dawn/Day). I am assuming these smaller films such as Gialli will be a long time before hitting BD/HD DVD. If not, I will be both sad (for not waiting) and happy (for having nicer versions) at the same time. On a large screen, a lot of DVDs don't look too hot)

There are a few dedicated threads to this elsewhere, but still I'll just say this - many of these DVD releases barely have enough sales to break even at the moment, I'd think that the HD market is probably less than 10% of the size of the DVD market and so any HD release of a cult title is likely to be a big loss-maker. Don't expect many them to hit DVD for at least 5 years.

True, but it makes me wonder when I see the words "Remastered in HD (or 2K) from original negatives" on the backs of the inserts...such as from releases on NoShame and Blue Underground (ie. Bird With The Crystal Plumage). I just get the feeling that they are imminent once the whole 'format war' thing is settled. Then again, Lustig has hinted that he's going to stop releasing titles, so I don't know if he'd sell/license these off to other companies or they'd just collect dust, so to speak. Things especially don't sound too enthusiastic when he says he wouldn't have done titles like Don't Torture A Duckling if he had the chance to do them over. You definitely have a point with the $ losses in such. If there's a thread to discuss this type of thing further, can you please provide me with a link.

Hot damn, that's exciting!

I'm looking forward to upgraded copies of both of these films. I knew THE EROTICIST was coming but it's nice to see futher confirmation. I'm glad Severin is branching out to other genres with the upcoming release of SEVEN NOTES IN BLACK. I hope these releases are successful.

Excellent! This will be the third copy of Seven Notes in Black that I'll buy. I always felt a bit guilty about paying for the bootleg Alfa Digital release, but I held on to it because I wanted a copy with English audio. Looks like I can now safely bin it.

Great news! The Alpha Digital version wasn’t terrible, but I found the sound dropouts very distracting at times.

Re: The Definitive Lucio Fulci Thread

This is great, I was beginning to wonder if they were every going to release The Eroticist, but to also have a decent release of 7 Notes in Black (which is in my opinion one of Fulci's best Giallo's) it just outstanding. Severin's fairly good release of Perversion Story, has me even more excited. I am expecting a quality release here.

I emailed Severin asking if they had any plans to release La Pertora, but I never got a response back. It is too bad that the Fulci/Fenech film still is not available with English subs.

Re: The Definitive Lucio Fulci Thread

Seven Notes and The Eroticist are two of my favorite Fulci films, actually, so I'm stoked as hell to see that Severin is releasing them. The quality of their stuff is absolutely first rate.

Re: The Definitive Lucio Fulci Thread

Anyone familar with this tv mini series called Un Uomo da ridere(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0483863/) done by Lucio Fulci in 1980? With the two mentioned Fulci titles getting released on R1DVD, that leaves his 60s comedies/musicals, Beatrice Cenci, Massacre Time, the two White Fang films, Dracula in the Provinces, La Pretora, Silver Saddle, Devil's Honey as titles yet to get released on R1.
