BEATRICE CENCI dvd(Neo Publishing)

French genre label Neo Publishing are releasing Fulci's BEATRICE CENCI in late January in a SE with extras that include 2 half hour interviews with the late director. No word about English options yet but don't get your hopes up as all of Neo's current releases are French/Italian only.Lado's NIGHT TRAIN MURDERS is also getting the SE treatment.

Oh yeah i´m sure that Neo Publishing won´t include english subs or dub, they have all these great release yet they limit themself to the french/italian market... Oh well i´m sure another company will pick up this title since a new transfer is available now.

Great news, but it sucks that there probably won't be English subs. I can't understand why companies don't add them. I mean, it can't possibly be hard to do or even be expensive and the addition would surely open up an entire new market and ensure more sales. To me, releasing a film without English subs in this day and age is the same as releasing a film without anamorphic enhancement. It's completely and utterly senseless.

Agreed and the sad thing is that when Neo first started all their releases included English options. They've released some classic Italian crime and gialli titles in the last year and all have only had original Italian/French soundtracks and subs which is a BIG shame.

Sometimes they can't include them because it's a term of the license. From the rights owners point of view for them to include English subs/language would lessen the value of their property in a potential sale to the UK/USA for instance.

This is great; you know it's only a matter of time before the materials get licensed in North America.

about time this were released, and that NTMurders se is also most welcome, now if only someone would start releasing riccardo freda´s filmography; more infuriating than audio-subs options is the region thing IMHO

Re: BEATRICE CENCI dvd(Neo Publishing)

Well the region restriction can be bypassed easily on most DVD players with a few simple button pushes on the remote, so i doubt the region restriction is the bigger problem. I think most serious DVD collectors nowadays own a region free DVD player, since it´s almost manditory if you wanna get all the top notch releases. Hell, i´ve owned a region free DVD player since 1998 when i bought my first one and i couldn´t imagine living with a region restriction.

Now in this case we have a great movie that alot of people have been waiting for, but it´s rendered almost useless cause it doesn´t include english subs or dub, that seems like more bigger problem to me i must say. There´s no simple button pushing sequence that´s gonna create english subs all of a sudden.

If it doesn't have an English track or English sub options, I'll pass. I'm actually more excited by all those Fulci interviews, but the same logic applies - no point in having it, if I can't understand what the man is saying...

Re: BEATRICE CENCI dvd(Neo Publishing)

I've pre-ordered myself a copy of Beatrice Cenci. Provided there are French subtitles (which I'm assuming will be the case), I can probably muddle through it.

Re: BEATRICE CENCI dvd(Neo Publishing)

Out next week and NO English options just Italian/French soundtracks and French subs which will more than likely be non-removable during the Italian option Good news is that my local convenience store will have it for me on the day of release at 14.99 euro
