With the recent documentary on the film, Lovelace's popularity has hit a bit of a resurgence thanks not only to Inside Deep Throat but also to Joe Bob Briggs, who covered her life and times in his recent book, Profoundly Disturbing. Here's what's on this DVD, which runs just over three hours in length when it's all said and done:

LOOPS:

In the first loop, which was taken from a beat up print and has no title card or credits of any kind, Linda lays in bed fingering herself. Shot without sound, some soulful psychedelic music plays overtop of the action. Another woman appears (at least judging by the hairlessness of body and the nail polish on the toenails) and Linda sucks her toes and rubs her feet on her body. Then the other woman fucks Linda with her foot. First she takes the foot missionary style, then she gets up and rides it like a cowgirl. At this point, the insertion is blurred leading one to wonder if she's taking the foot anally as the camera switches over to a rear view. This goes on for a quite a while, with the blurring obscuring the action, and the camera switches back to the front view once more. Despite the blurring, one thing is obvious once the view switches back, and that's that Ms. Lovelace would cram almost an entire foot into her hoo-haw when she wanted to, and that's something you don't see every day. Once she's done riding it she takes the foot out and licks it clean.

A second untitled loop, again without live sound but music overtop, finds Lovelace arriving at a woman's apartment where the pair break a big ol' dildo out of a brown paper bag. They disrobe and hit the sheets and Linda licks the lady's labs lovingly while something that sounds very much like The Doors plays overtop. Linda busts out the dildo and puts it to use on her friend but seeing as this is the double ended variety, it doesn't take long before she inserts it into her own puddle of mud. 

The third loop, Piss Orgy, Linda, a female and a male are all making out. After some bumping and grinding, he strips the two girls down to their birthday suits (Linda leaves a shall on, likely to cover her chest scars) and watches the two gals smooch and then eventually go down on one another. Dude busts out a vibrator and works that into the equation while Linda gets eaten. Soon Linda takes the vibrator while giving buddy head, right down to the short and curlies as only she could. The girls work themselves into a sixty-nine and then the girls take turns on the guys cock. At one point it looks like Linda's getting ready to wizz on chicky #2 but there's a cut and we don't actually witness any water-sports action.

Loop number four begins with Linda sucking dick, deep throat style, then getting on all fours to take it doggy style. After they fuck, he puts his pants back on and Linda sits up in the bed. He leaves, but she's obviously unfulfilled (we know this because she tries to take his pants off but he'll have none of that... she flips him off and he leaves). What's a horny miss Lovelace to do? Well, she calls over her pet dog and fingers herself while he stands over her. You know where this is going, right? Right, but for better or worse, the clip (which is obviously the notorious Dog Fucker loop that she claims she was forced to do under duress) cuts there and ends abruptly. 

LINDA LOVELACE FOR PRESIDENT:

This 1975 sex comedy begins with a shot of Linda standing naked in front of an American flag. From there we catch some footage of a frontier era wagon train then footage of religious zealots parading in the streets. We witness protest footage of various kinds, a black Klansman, a guy in a bear suit, all to demonstrate the apathy sweeping America at the time that the film was shot.

With the country in disarray, the only one that they can turn to in hopes of restoring some semblance of sanity, is the one and only Linda Lovelace. Linda speaks to the people and tells them of her film belief in breast feeding, talks about oral sex, and gives some sort of an idea of what her political platform will be. 

Linda gathers up a gang to help her on the campaign trail (a penis shaped trail at that!) including a few different sub-cultural stereotypes and former Monkee, Mikey Dolenz, and off they go to win the votes they'll need. This is, of course, after she meets with Uncle Sam himself, who has been locked away in an old folks home and left to rot. Unfortunately for Linda and her rag tag group of amigos, there's another candidate who isn't going to take losing lying down. It's going to take more than an opposing candidate and some maniacal preachers and the odd hitman or two to stop Linda from being the 'first female president to go down in history.'

The soundtrack by 'Big Mack And The Truckers' is interesting, but not as cool as the 'blow the trumpet beat the drums, elect the president who really cums... Linda Lovelace For President...all my dreams of you are wet until you are the president... oh... Linda Lovelace For President' number we hear about fifteen minutes in. 

The cinematography is pretty standard, the plot is terrible, the acting is even worse but somehow the movie remains very watchable in spite of itself. It's one of those fabulous disasters that could have only been made in the seventies. Despite the sheer terribleness of it all, Lovelace does do a pretty good job with some of the comedic bits and the spots where she's playing up on the more puritanical aspects of the political race are quite funny considering that she's known for giving blow jobs on camera.

There is a fair bit of nudity and some obviously simulated sex but nothing in here that would prove to be too shocking nowadays and nothing that comes even close to the explicitness of her XXX films. In fact, the whole thing feels very much like a fucked up episode of Hee-Haw or Mama's Family gone horribly, horribly wrong. Linda spends a lot of her campaign time hitting the small mid-western and southern towns, full of strange hillbilly types which just adds to the weirdness of it all. If the premise weren't strange enough on its own, there's also the Scatman Crothers factor. That's right, Scatman plays a pimped out soul brother and you best not mess with him. 

DEEP THROAT 2:

Directed by Joseph Sarno (of Swedish Wildcats), this rarely seen sequal to Gerard Damiano's 1972 XXX smash finds Linda playing Nurse Lovelace in a noticeably less racy follow up film. After Linda wakes up, we see the Damiano Films Presents logo hit the screen as her naked body glides across the floor to the tune of some fun disco sounds. 

Once she leaves the house, Linda's followed on her way to work where she's employed by Dr. Jayson (played by Harry Reems and his giant moustache, star of the first Deep Throat and Sex Wish), who periodically indulges himself with Linda's considerable talent. Soon enough some feds have chased her down as they need her to serve her country! At first she thinks she's been drafted but soon she finds out that there's a Russian karate expert running around causing problems, much to the dismay of the horny Dr. Jayson who just wants to get laid. 

The government, represented by Jamie Gillis, enlists Linda as Agent 0069 so that she can help them put a stop to the communist threat. Thankfully she's got a super computer (who happens to get an erection when she talks to him) to help her, as well as a few fellow U. S. Agents... or does she?

While Jamie Gillis (star of Waterpower and credited on screen simply as Jamey) has a decent sized role so do fellow porno stars, Steve Tucker, Mark Stevens, Roger Caine and Tina Russell in bit parts. For some reason, Harry Reems spends a lot of the film bouncing on the spot. I guess it's supposed to mean he's horny but it's hard to tell if that's the case of if he's just on speed or something. Either way, it's odd. Lovelace looks quite healthy in the film though, with a lot of nice color in her cheeks and a healthy glow to her that isn't present in all of her work. 

Sarno's direction is decent, with some nice framing in a few sequences. The editing looks like it might have played a part in excising the sex scenes. Sometimes when things start to heat up, which isn't really all that often, it ends quite abruptly and there's certainly nothing in here that would cause the film to get anything harsher than an R-rating. There's nary anything even remotely resembling hardcore in this film, and the nudity isn't even particularly plentiful leading one to wonder what the point of it all was.

The film is quite interesting as a curiosity item. It's not a good movie, and the comedy in it is pretty mundane (save for Reems and Gillis, who are always reliable and always entertaining), but the sheer weirdness of it all helps the film, much like it did in Linda Lovelace For President.

The audio is stereo over the loops, where it's simply a few songs playing over some material that was shot without sound. During the two features on the disc, it's mono. While the quality isn't mind blowing, everything is audible but be prepared to turn the volume up a bit as the levels are lower than normal.

Considering the scarcity of Linda Lovelace For President and Deep Throat 2 as well as the rarity of the loops, Alpha Blue Archives have done a pretty respectable job on this release. Yeah, the quality could have been better but to be honest I expected it to look and sound a whole lot worse than it did. The Linda Lovelace Collection is an interesting assortment of her XXX work and her two shots at mainstream cinema acceptance - both fascinating failures.
